About this book
The definitive walking guide to this historic pilgrimage through Galicia in Spain, part of the Camino de Santiago, with daily stage maps and expert recommendations, fully updated for this 4th edition.
Welcome to the Camino Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage that leads to Santiago de Compostela. For centuries the Camino has drawn pilgrims seeking spiritual and physical renewal onto these paths. While deeply rooted in history, the Camino de Santiago has experienced an astonishing modern revival, with recent years seeing record numbers of pilgrims from all over the world taking on the journey.
For many people, a pilgrimage is a journey of both outer and inner discovery. This guide is unique because it supports pilgrims on both paths:-
- Ensuring that you will find a place to eat and sleep at the end of a hard day’s walk, but also that you may feel supported to embark on an inner journey.
- Featuring inspirational quotes, reflections and space for your own journaling – a practical and mystical manual for the modern-day pilgrim.
The fully updated 4th edition guide to Sarria-Santiago covers the final seven stages of the Camino de Santiago. It runs through Galicia, from O Cebreiro to Sarria and then from Sarria to Santiago. In 2025, 162,000 people began their pilgrimage in Sarria – 67% of all those officially recorded on the Camino. The infrastructure and facilities to support everyone who takes this path is ample and well established, with clear and consistent waymarking, a wide selection of accommodation and well placed cafes, restaurants and shops.
What makes this guide indispensable:
- Clear and concise information in an accessible format
- Easy to follow mapping and detailed, tried and tested directions
- Full colour throughout
- A wealth of information – historical background, optional detours and alternative routes
- Expert recommendations from planning and packing to places to eat and sleep on the route
- Inspiration and reflections from those who have walked the path before you
This guidebook forms part of the Camino Guides series, which has served pilgrims on the many Caminos de Santiago for over 20 years. Written by pilgrims for pilgrims, it includes everything you need to know, from planning your pilgrimage to navigating the route itself.
