If you’ve ordered a print book then it will be dispatched from our office in Chesham, Bucks (just above Costa Coffee on the High Street if you know Chesham). You should get a couple of automated confirmation emails – one to let you know we’ve got your order, then another from Royal Mail to say the books are on their way, with a tracking number.
Office opening hours
Our office is normally open until 9.00-2.00 Monday-Thursday. Orders will usually be dispatched the following working day.
How long will it take for my book(s) to arrive?
- UK: up to 5 working days
- Europe (incl Ireland): up to 4 weeks
- North America: up to 4 weeks
- Rest of the World: up to 6 weeks
If we don’t have your book in stock for whatever reason, there may be a longer delay but we’ll advise you of that when we pick up your order.
If you need your book more quickly than this, then please get in touch and we’ll do the best we can.
How do I get in touch?
If you have any queries at all about your order, you can email us at [email protected] or telephone +44 (0)1753 893444. If you ring during our normal office hours, Monday-Thursday, you will usually get to speak to a real human being straight away.
Outside office hours, or if we can’t get to the phone for whatever reason, you can leave us a message and one of our real human beings will aim to get back to you on the next working day.
How much will postage cost?
- UK: Free shipping on all orders over £30. Otherwise, £3.60 for first item + £1.00 for each additional item in each shipment.
- Europe (incl Ireland): £7.50 for first item + £2.00 for each additional item in each shipment.
- North America: £14.00 for first item + £8.00 each additional item in each shipment.
- Rest of the World: £13.00 for first item + £8.00 for each additional item in each shipment.
These charges are added automatically at checkout. Please note: outside the UK, all our books are delivered duty unpaid (see below).
Pre-orders
If your order includes a pre-order (for a book which is not yet published) then we’ll hang on to the whole order until that book is published. If you want your other books to be dispatched immediately then just let us know. We’ll probably need to advise you of an extra postage charge in that case, as postage is calculated per shipment.
VAT and import duties in EU countries
Annoying post-Brexit small print… As mentioned above, outside the UK, all our books are delivered duty unpaid. Due to new rules in the EU, you will no longer pay any VAT due on physical books at the point of purchase. If VAT or import duties are applicable on physical books in your region, these may be charged to you at the point of delivery. Couriers are responsible for charging VAT and any import duties and we regret we have no control over this system.
So you may wish to contact your local authorities before placing your order, or purchase your books from an online retailer based in the EU (although of course in that case, you won’t benefit from any discounts operating on our site).
This is obviously highly unsatisfactory and we’re working on a solution with some friends of ours in Europe which we hope to have in place shortly. So if you live in the EU and are not prepared to order on this basis (which we’d entirely understand) do please check back in a few weeks and we may have better news for you. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding.
Ebooks are unaffected by any of this nonsense – these are sold inclusive of VAT, which is automatically added at checkout, and no delivery charges or import duties apply.
Returns
Ordered the wrong guide? Wasn’t what you expected? We operate a 30-day returns guarantee so you can buy with confidence. Return your book in its original condition within 30 days of receipt and we’ll issue a full refund for the price you paid including the basic cost of postage.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to refund any enhanced delivery charges you have requested or your costs of returning the book to us.
