Originally from New York, Tim Clancy (viadinarica.com) has lived and worked in the Western Balkans since 1992, when a simple twist of fate led to him hitching a lift from Germany to Croatia to join the grass-roots relief agency Suncokret (‘Sunflower’), which was involved in aid work in a refugee camp in western Herzegovina. Tim lives in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, working as an expert in the fields of tourism and the environment for many international and local development agencies. In 2000 he and some friends formed Green Visions, the first ecotourism and environment protection group in the country. Since then he has been dedicated to environmental activism and ecologically responsible development of Bosnia & Herzegovina’s cultural, historical and natural heritage. This includes co-founding Terra Dinarica, an NGO dedicated to the sustainable development of the Via Dinarica mega-trail that stretches from Albania to Slovenia. Clancy is the author of Bradt’s Bosnia & Herzegovina guidebook, now in its seventh edition.
