Darren Flint’s background in tourism and environmental conservation has allowed him to enjoy a varied career across the UK, from promoting the beauty of the East of England with Bedfordshire Tourism, to numerous roles with the RSPB, via studying rare butterflies and leading walking tours. Today he lives in Dumfries and Galloway, an under-explored corner of southwest Scotland, where, along with running Summerlea House B&B in Moffat (moffatbedandbreakfast.co.uk) with his partner and co-author, Donald Greig, he also helps care for a number of community projects. In amongst this he finds time to write travel and walking guides along with regular magazine articles. His leisure interests predominantly focus on the outdoors whatever the weather, from a day hill walking to growing vegetables in his garden, or heading out hunting for elusive wildlife species or quirky historical places read about in old books.
