Kirk Smock lived in Guyana for three years and has spent a total of seven years working there as a tourism consultant, helping local stakeholders build birding and adventure travel sectors in the country. The author of Bradt’s Guyana guidebook, Smock still considers it a great honour to have spent countless weeks in Guyana’s interior, enveloped by its astonishing nature and spending time alongside its amazing people. After traveling to numerous countries for work and pleasure, including spending four years living in Mozambique, Smock moved to Madison, Wisconsin, USA – where he now lives with his wife and two sons, and runs a bakery, ORIGIN Breads.
