Bio
Alexandra Richards grew up in Dorset, where she developed a love of rural life, the natural world and outdoor pursuits. During her studies at the University of Durham she spent a year on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, teaching English, practising her French, getting to grips with Creole and travelling the region. Later Alex evolved into a freelance travel writer and photographer and has now written five editions of the Bradt’s Mauritius, Rodrigues and Réunion guide. In 2004, she undertook a writing/photography assignment travelling to Australia on a cargo ship via the Suez Canal and has divided her time between Dorset and Australia ever since. Alex is also the author of Bradt’s Dorset (Slow Travel).
