Since our foundation in 1974, Bradt Guides has had a reputation for publishing guides to places overlooked by other travel publishers. That continues today. As of August 2023, over 70% of our city, regional and country guidebooks list* has no direct competition from other publishers – if there were no Bradt guide to these places, there would be no guide at all.
*Of 142 Bradt Guides covering cities, regions and countries, 101 have no direct competition from the other major travel publishers (Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, DK Eyewitness, Insight, Marco Polo, Moon) – 71%. Either those publishers don’t cover these destinations at all, or they include them as part of wider coverage whereas we have a dedicated guide.
