Tim Burford studied languages at Oxford University. In 1991, after a brief career as a publisher, he began writing for Bradt, first covering hiking in eastern-central Europe and then backpacking and ecotourism in Latin America. He has now written nine books for Bradt and also writes for the Rough Guides and leads hiking trips in Europe’s mountains. He lives in Cambridge, loves train travel in Europe and flies only across oceans and as rarely as possible.
