About this book

This is the only English-language guide on the market dedicated exclusively to Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is about the size of Wales and manages to squeeze beaches, rainforests, mountains, savannah grasslands, marshes, mangrove swamps and rivers into its relatively small size. Written for intrepid travellers looking to explore this scarred but vibrant nation, this brand new edition of Sierra Leone invites you to discover the hidden beaches on the country's Atlantic coast, climb to the top of Mount Bintumani, west Africa's highest peak, learn about magical customs, and experience world-class bird-watching.

About the author

Readable and essential
Review by Andrew
Quite simply one of the best guidebooks I've ever read. The authors' easy style makes it so much more readable than the average. And it contains a wealth of vital information. Even though the info is a bit old, pre-dating Ebola, it's still proven a vital reference source to us since we arrived three months ago as expats.

The Best There Is!
Review by Overlanding West Africa
In 2012 we were the first overland truck based company to operate a group trip through Sierra Leone. As you can imagine, finding up to date and reliable information was not that simple!

The Bradt guide made our lives considerably easier, and combined with our on the ground research and liaising with other travellers we have operated some fantastic trips to date. The book has alot of detailed information we would really have struggled to have sourced elsewhere.

Great work guys and keep up the good work!
