Kirk Smock

About this author

Kirk Smock, a freelance writer originally from the United States, moved to Guyana after his girlfriend accepted a public health fellowship there. For several months Kirk set out exploring his new surroundings under the guise of being a writer. Eventually he fell into two part-time writing jobs in Guyana; his work then shifted from jungle survival courses and rainforest treks to a broader range of topics, including aquaculture farms, hot peppers, HIV and birdwatching. Due to a persistent wanderlust, Kirk is now living in New York city, but plans on returning to Guyana to pursue future story ideas and to keep up to date on the rapidly growing tourism sector for future editions of this book. Kirk’s work has appeared in Men’s Health, Adventure Travel, Wisconsin Trails, Madison Area Guide and several newspapers. This is his first book; he can be contacted by email on kirksmock@gmail.com.
