About this author

Gillian Gloyer was educated in Glasgow and Oxford. An unorthodox career path then took her from Scotland to Albania, via Spain, Chile, Belgium and Bosnia, working variously as a campaigner, journalist, English teacher, publicist, parliamentary assistant and election expert. In Albania, she directed a long-term training programme with mid-career politicians from 12 parties. She lived in Tirana from 1998 to 2002, and travelled extensively around the country for both work and pleasure.
