January

Island hopping

Board a sail boat and spend a few nights on board Sea Pearl, Sea Shell or M/Y Pegasos and enjoy idyllic days cruising between the inner islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue as well as visiting Curieuse, Cousin and Moyenne. There will be time for swimming, snorkelling and diving as well as simply lazing on deck or on the nearest beach and visiting the special sights on each island.

February

Visit the World Heritage site of Vallée de Mai, Praslin

Once described as the Garden of Eden, Vallée de Mai is still a mysterious forest where the erotic looking double nut grows.  Take a guide to show you the secrets of the forest and look for the elusive Black Parrot.

March

Honeymoons

Seychelles is the number one honeymoon destination with special packages at practically all the hotels and island resorts.  If your purse can stretch to it, North Island is the top spot for barefoot luxury. Get married on a Mahé beach and let Creole Travel Services arrange the entire event at their exclusive Cap Lazare private hideaway.

April

A good month for exploring the underwater world

At the transition between the winds the sea is at its calmest so make the effort to get to the outer islands and dive or snorkel off one of the fantastic drop-offs from Desroches or Astove or even Aldabra.  Snorkel off the beach at Port Launay or in the Baie Tiernay Marine Park on the north of Mahé or from the beach at the Hilton Northolme hotel.  Praslin has good snorkelling from La Domaine de La Reserve Hotel in the Curieuse Marine Park.

May

African and Kreol music celebrate Africa Day

FetAfrik is a multi-artistic festival, a colourful expression of African and Kreol culture and also the Seychellois way of celebrating Africa Day, on the 25th May.  It is also the low season and prices are more competitive all over the islands.

June

Sooty terns breeding

This is the time to make a visit to unpretentious Bird Island to see the spectacle of thousands of squawking, screaming sooty terns coming in to breed on the flat sandy island.  Walk around the island, go for a snorkel and enjoy delicious Creole food.

July

Take a walk

During July the weather is a little more comfortable due to the cooling breezes of the south east trades and this is the perfect time to explore the Morne Seychellois National Park on foot.  Hike up, with a guide, from Val Riche to Copolia to find the rare pitcher plant or walk up from the Tea Factory through the misty, magical national park with views over the west of Mahé taking in the islands of Conception and Thérèse.

August

Beach time on La Digue

Hire a bicycle on La Digue and pedal through L’Union Estate stopping to see the timeless method of producing coconut oil. Make your way to some of the most beautiful beaches hiding among the giant granite boulders of Source d’Argent. Be more adventurous and go over the hill to Grande Anse where you will probably have the entire stretch of white sands to yourselves, but be careful there are no lifesavers and the surf can be strong.

September

Diving or snorkelling with whale sharks
