The next Bradt travel-writing workshop – chaired by Hilary Bradt and with a panel including Bradt MD Adrian Phillips – will take place on 18 November 2018 in Earls Court, London.
We believe that we offer the best-value, highest quality and most enjoyable travel-writing workshop available. Its genesis came in 2003 when Hilary Bradt was invited by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington to organise a seminar on travel writing. The course was a sell-out, and the positive feedback encouraged Hilary to establish a seminar for aspiring travel writers in the UK.
The workshop has since become an annual event, tapping into the expertise of not only Bradt’s award-winning team, but of Jonathan Lorie, the country’s leading teacher on the craft of travel writing. It has developed a sterling reputation and has a proven track record of assisting students to get their work published. Whether you want to give yourself the best chance of seeing your words in print or would simply like to improve the quality of your travel blog, this is the workshop for you.
Joining you will be the winner and two runners-up of Bradt's 2018 'New Travel Writer of the Year' competition, presented in associated with the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards, who all received places on the seminar as part of their prize. The 'New Travel Writer of the Year' award celebrates the best in unpublished travel writing, and offers three aspiring travel writers the chance to see their talent recognised at a glittering awards ceremony in the presence of some of the country’s best-known travel writers, publishers and editors.
What the students say

"Great! Entertaining, but above all highly practical, structured and accessible 'how to do it' to break into published travel writing. Full of usable advice – and stories."
“Really informative, well paced, interesting. Great panel – knowledgeable, humorous, lively. Couldn't be improved."
"I found the seminar even more useful than I expected it to be and it has given me renewed determination to continue and grow my travel writing. Thank you!"
“I was truly inspired to work at my writing after yesterday's seminar. I found it very informative and practical.”
“A lot of information packed into a few hours. (…) Helpful to know that even accomplished writers agonise over their writing.”
"The Seminar was really informative and inspiring. Really useful tips on travel-writing across the board.”
