One thing that sets Bradt apart from other publishers is that our guidebooks are written by local, expert authors – individuals who live and breathe their destination and who, with their colourful, detailed text, are able to share their passion with you, our readers.

One such author is Paul Crask, writer of both our Dominica and Grenada guidebooks. Paul has been living permanently in Dominica since 2005, and has carved out a name for himself as one of the pre-eminent Caribbean travel experts. Now, to showcase the island further, Paul has released a new magazine: Dominica Traveller.

“I wanted to do something creative and a little different from the norm, so I tried to come up with Dominica’s very own version of a National Geographic-style magazine,” he says.

“Dominica Traveller is neither a destination marketing brochure nor a guide and, save for advertorials, it contains very little by way of ‘marketing speak’. Instead, it promotes and showcases this beautiful island in different ways; by describing some of its adventures, its history, its natural sciences, its people, and its art and culture in the form of interesting and in-depth feature articles. It’s a magazine that is true to the essence of Dominica and one you really need to read rather than simply skim through. I believe it complements existing marketing publications and will be especially attractive to independent, adventurous, nature-loving travellers who like to get off the beaten path.”
