Bradt voted UK’s Top Guidebook Series
Top Guidebook Series
1. Bradt Travel Guides
2. DK Eyewitness
3. Lonely Planet
Collecting the award during a ceremony at Destinations Travel Show in London, Bradt’s Managing Director, Adrian Phillips, thanked the magazine’s readers for their support during a tough period for guidebook publishing.
‘Much has been written about the death of the guidebook’, Adrian said, ‘but I’m pleased to say that we’re still hanging on in there! Despite – indeed, perhaps because of – the wealth of crowd-sourced reviews and recommendations on the web, travellers still value information written by a genuine expert and conveniently brought together in one place.
‘We’re proud to have been publishing guidebooks for over 40 years, and we’re now the largest independent travel publisher. Independence gives us the freedom to take risks, and I believe this award recognises not only the quality of our guides but the colourful nature of our list.
‘And 2016 promises to be as colourful as ever, with guidebooks ranging from The Ivory Coast to East Devon & the Jurassic Coast; a selection of special nature activities to occupy you during the coming months in A Summer of British Wildlife: 100 Great Days Out Watching Wildlife; and The Big Cat Man – an autobiography by Jonathan Scott, the much-loved presenter of BBC’s Big Cat Diary. How’s that for an ambitious publishing programme!’
