Dominica, though diminutive, is one of the most naturally dramatic and beautiful islands of the Lesser Antilles. Self-proclaimed 'Nature Island of the Caribbean', its verdant mountains, lush valleys and dense tropical rainforests are a delight for those looking to discover a Caribbean island that can still claim to be off the mass-tourism trail. Aside from nature lovers, this guide is ideal for explorers intent on experiencing the country’s rich culture and heritage, and for scuba-divers who want to discover some dramatic marine life and underwater topography. Dominica’s recent claim to fame was as the location for the filming of Hollywood blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.
• The only dedicated guide to the island.
• Complete guide to the island’s national parks and other natural landmarks.
• In-depth coverage of plantations, estates and the Carib Territory, owned by indigenous people.
• Suggested itineraries and excursions such as visiting the World Creole Music Festival, using inter-island ferries and taking a cruise.
Reviews
"The absolute best comprehensive travel guide to Dominica that I have ever read just recently appeared and it is a gem. Dominica by Paul Crask has it all."
Domnitjen Magazine
"... the best guidebook to Dominica—and one of the best guidebooks to any single country in the Caribbean—is the Bradt Dominica Guide. Author Paul Crask seems to know every crevice of the island and liberally shares his insider’s knowledge in this fun, snappy, guide."

Reader Reviews
"The only guidebook that I’ve ever read that gives any kind of representation of Dominica that rings true. I am Dominica by birth..."
Cecille Labuda
"This is one of those rare books written by someone who knows Dominica personally. The author has broken down the island into regions, making it much easier to find out what's available nearby. Many of the trails and waterfalls are "off the beaten path." As Dominica is an unspoiled island not all of them are easy to access. He gives detailed directions to the sites, rates them on difficulty, and says whether a guide is really needed, and why. He also includes the usual Where to Stay and Where to Eat. This book is so informative that it is even featured on some of Dominica's official websites. If you only buy one book about Dominica, I recommend that you make it this one. "

"One of the most informative and useful of the one-place travel guides I have read. This is a book you don't just read through before you go - it's one you take with you and actually use on a daily basis. Full of really useful and relevant information with detailed maps (essential in Dominica) of all the places you are likely to go to - or consider going to - including places off the beaten track reached only by hiking. Paul Crask really has produced a first class guide book."
