Notes from the Author
"For most people, Bolivia isn't their first-choice destination on a Latin American itinerary. Most people are wrong. The 400,000-odd international tourist arrivals that do make it there each year find that Bolivia offers a more authentic, more rustic and, well, frankly, at times more gritty take on the continent away from the tourist hordes and the dollar prices.
For me Bolivia is all about contrasts: indigenous culture sits shoulder by shoulder with modern cityscapes, ancient festivals compete the with high-tech events and the natural world blends into the manufactured. If you want biking, trekking, wildlife, nightlife, cities, remote villages, high-altitude landscapes and tropical rainforests, pop culture icons and little-known heroes, relaxing breaks and active excursions, something Latin American and something uniquely Bolivian, well, it's all here waiting for you.
Buy the book and I'll tell you all about it."
