About this book

Angola is changing at a rapid pace. This new edition reflects the continued resurgence of tourism following years of conflict. While no city comes close to matching Luanda for sheer size, venture outside the capital and you will find everything from frontier diamond towns to relaxed beach resorts. The country offers over 1,000km of unspoilt beaches, excellent fishing and some of the best surfing waves in the world. Rain forests and bird spotting opportunities abound. Whether business traveller or pioneering adventurer, Angola provides all the practical and background information you'll need to tackle this vast country. It also acts as a guide for expats living in the country.

About the author

Mike Stead worked for the British FCO and was based in Angola. Sean Rorison is a Canadian writer and the author of Bradt's Congo and Angola. Oscar Scafidi lives and works in Luanda.

Amazing insight to an amazing country
Review by rosanna
Absolutely essential for anyone planning a trip to Angola... whether you are going on a business trip and need pointers where to find the best bars, beaches and markets of Luanda or you want to explore the phenomenal beauty of the provincial towns and villages, this guide book will point you in the right direction and will make your trip efficient and easy! Loads of information which really I have not come across anywhere else, since there is little tourist information about Angola freely available on the internet. I attempted to research before arriving and literally found nothing. Likewise if you do not speak Portuguese it is no goods hoping the info will just come to you upon arrival. I don't know what I would have done without this book... probably I would not have discovered some of the best sites in Angola! It literally has all the information you need to make a fantastic and efficent trip. Go to Angola and take this guide book is my double advice!!!!

Info packed
Review by francesca
The authors have really had hands on true lived life research experience in Angola to write this guide.
Full of helpful necessary information for a country that needs to grow its tourism industry.
This guide is an important handy companion for the intrepid traveller, random visitor, expat etc.
Necessary in a country that is so full of diverse landscapes, cultures, bureaucracy, etc.

Great book that helped on our travels
Review by Sintija
We went to Angola in 2015, travelling overland from South Africa. We found this book very helpful in our travels, as there is not much information on the country available elsewhere. We travelled from very South to the Congo river, so we covered a lot of km, and we relied on the book to see some sights in the cities we crossed and find places to eat and sleep. There's good information on history as well.
